Overview
The Centre des monuments nationaux’s work with social sector audiences is expanding throughout the year, notably through its involvement in the ‘Vivre Ensemble’ initiative, a partnership with the Cultures du Cœur association and its annual participation in the national event Les Portes du Temps, which became C’est mon Patrimoine! in 2017.
Alongside these initiatives, the Centre des monuments nationaux is forging partnerships with other national organisations, covering a wide range of fields, which support people facing social difficulties.
Visitor Experience
Its work with organisations in the social sector is ongoing throughout the year and is based in particular on several initiatives:
- contributing to the Ministry of Culture and Communication’s ‘Vivre Ensemble’ initiative, alongside some thirty other organisations;
- participation, since 2006, in the Ministry’s flagship event aimed at young people from the social sector, particularly those from priority neighbourhoods under urban policy and rural regeneration areas, “Les Portes du temps”;
- partnerships at national and local level with major social sector organisations (Cultures du cœur, Secours populaire, The Salvation Army, Action Enfance and the National Liaison Committee of Neighbourhood Associations).
On a day-to-day basis, the monuments’ visitor services offer tours and activities tailored to visitors from the social sector, organise training for group leaders to help them guide groups independently and, of course, stand ready to welcome visitors from all walks of life by offering various forms of visitor engagement to ensure they get the most out of their visit (guided tours, lecture-tours, workshops, visitor guides, audio guides, etc.).
HERITAGE WORKSHOPS
Heritage workshops enable participants to discover a technique, an era or a style associated with the monument through artistic practice, drawing, model-making and other forms of creative expression.The workshop is led by a qualified facilitator selected by the Centre des monuments nationaux or a specialist in the subject matter (arts and crafts, etc.), and lasts 2 hours 30 minutes.
To ensure the heritage workshop is organised as effectively as possible for your group, please contact the monument directly; they will work with you to determine the most suitable format for the workshop, based on your expectations and the nature of your group.
As an organisation supporting people facing social difficulties, the CMN offers a rate of 45 euros per workshop for a group of up to 20 people, excluding accompanying adults. Admission to the monument and the tour are included in this price.
